Things are still moving along

Posted on May 17, 2014 at 1:45 AM

Well, i've been terrible with the website this year, but i seem to have my hands full with ponies. Teaching youngsters and playing with the older ones. Ghillie is now under saddle, but not on the market until he's got a few more hours under his belt (and i'd like to get hime out to a couple of the local ag shows in the spring time before finding him a forever home) Crofter's learning the ropes, with a look at being under in the Spring. Keziah is also in to go under saddle before being covered in the spring time. We're hoping to send her to Croftcnoc Highland Ponies in Victoria, to go to the lovely Croftcnoc Carlyle

No foals in 2014 for us, but we will be covering a few mares for 2015 foals.

I'll get the camera out and blow the dust off and get some photos of the ponies to post before the woolies have totally settled in for the winter.

Our big girl, Ceilidh is doing great and really starting to look the part now with mane and tail flowing like a proper Highland mane and tail should. (it had been raining in this shot, hence the runoff)

Ceilidh looking relaxed, putting on weight and looking like a gorgeous big Highland.

Then there's a huge block of no photos. There was a sick pony and a terrible spring calving season and weeks of days i was just glad to see the end of, and had no wish to document anything.

The last folder of photos was from my Dad's 70th birthday party on November 2 (and most of those were taken by my daughter!)

It was a great night and all of the family was there. He was a very happy camper ;)

Delicious cake from Patty's Patisserie in Olive St Albury. Highly recommend!

Dad and the plethora of Grandchildren - only two missing, at the party just not in the photo. I think there's 17 in total.

Three muskateers. My ever gorgeous sister, Amanda. Dad and i need to learn not to speak during photos.

And some more...

And then something interesting arrived very early one morning...

A very long way from her home on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland,

Ballinton Summer Ceilidh arrived on a cold and damp morning. Ceilidh is a partbred

by the imported stallion, Fyfedene out of a TB x Clumper mare, Lucinda.

She's the sweetest girl, and huuuge (height-wise) !

A couple of days later she's out of quarantine and meeting the troops.

Ceilidh was a little tucked up and sore in her rear end after more than four

days on and off the transports. She had a series of EMM Therapy

(Equine Muscle Mnagement) sessions, with great improvement.

She'd also been suffering from Queensland Itch. Poor girl had rubbed out her

mane and tail. With some help and guidance from Anita at Herbal Horse,

the change in climate helped to, we had no more rubbing and her skin was

feeling better and starting to heal as well.

Tali was weaned, and started doing some online work.

My favourite cow, Spotty, passed away and left this young man to become

part of our herd. We called him Otis.

Wow, it's been a long time between updates!

Posted on December 4, 2013 at 1:25 AM

Has it really been nearly 12 months since i've done any serious updates? Guess i got caught up in real life a bit. So much to do these days.

I'll try and give you a glimpse at what's been happening...

Lots of new photos ... mainly of Tali (DG Talisman) at this stage. More will be added as i edit them. Best way to see the new photos is to follow this link:

Lots of news. Slowly updating the website over the next couple of days, while this heatwave (4 - 5 day of 40 degrees or more) make it too hot to spend much time out in the sun.

Verona has foaled!

Posted on October 17, 2012 at 5:00 PM

At 8.00 pm last night (Thursday 17th October) Verona foaled a lovely big, strong colt foal. Verona cleansed quickly and cleanly, and bub was up and drinking in about two hours. He's very cute, and a very strange reddy / brown colour which i've not encountered before. This one will be interesting! Adie's mealy muzzle seems to be there, as does the beginings of black legs. We als have a big star and a small white rear hoof and sock (shock, horror, gasp ;))

Welcome to the world!

In utero, he was called Thumper, as he was a very active bub. I still haven't got a name picked, but i have a short list.

Details and more pics to follow. I'm suffering from end-of-month, son-used-our-whole-data-allowance again. Will post this then attempt some photos. Fingers crossed!

**edited to add, we have a name! Dungarron Talisman. Still struggling to get photos on here, there are some on Facebook now.

*** edited again to add there is now a gallery of photos of Talisman on the Gallery page here.

Harry

Posted on October 13, 2012 at 12:20 AM

I made a comment the other day that i never remember to pics of 'my' boys, Cloud and Harry. There were some pics of the beautiful Cloud in a previous 'news' post a couple of months ago. Here's Harry. He's not particularly happy. With the grass springing faster than can be consumed  - even though Harry's given eating it all a good go - ponies have gotten into what could be called, ahem, 'forward' condition. Millie and harry seem to be the worst for getting fat quickly. Both are noow in the yards to limit their grazing. Yards with soaked plain grass hay by day, out for a pick in the well grazed back pushing up yard at night. Like mother, like son.

It's nice to see pics of Highlands of different colours. Harry is brown. Not to many of them around.

He's by the late Barrymoor Dorian out of our grey dun mare, Benacre Mill Buie.

Changed the background so it's not so headache-inducing. I loved the tartan, but it did weird things to my (and others) eyes.

Now moving on to updating the information for each of the ponies.

Horrible rainy and cold day, so a good one for being indoors and playing on the computer.
